MND, Parkinsons & Huntingtons Awareness

Service Description

This training focuses on three conditions, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's disease and Huntington's' disease. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) The MND section of the training has been designed to allow the learner to understand MND to prepare better when they meet someone with the disease. MND Awareness also provides specific information about care, symptom management and wellbeing and support needs of a person with MND. The learning outcomes for this part of the course are as follows: • What is MND • What are Motor Neurons • Examining the classification and symptoms of MND • Testing and diagnosis • Understanding the care and treatment Parkinson's Disease This section of the training seeks to understand the difficulties that a person with Parkinson's Disease experiences and how that is key to providing excellent care by providing delegates with an insight into the daily obstacles that those with the disease have to overcome and offers models for best practice in terms of their care. The learning outcomes for this part of the course are as follows: • What is Parkinson's disease • What is dopamine • Facts about Parkinson's disease • Symptoms and diagnosis • Communication • Non-motor symptoms • Psychological and cognitive difficulties • Management of Parkinson's' disease • Medication treatments and side effects • Other therapies • Surgical options Huntington's disease This Huntington's awareness section of the training course aims to enable delegates to have a greater understanding of what Huntington's Disease is and how to safely and effectively provide care for patients who live with it. The learning outcomes for this part of the course are as follows: • What is Huntington's disease • Cause and risk factors • Testing and diagnosis • 3 stages of Huntington's • Types of symptoms • Treatments and medications • Prognosis Online Courses Available: 9:30am - 3:00pm Tuesday 15th June 2021 Price £45 + VAT per participant
