The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is ideal if you are working or looking to work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities. 

The qualification provides an introduction to teaching. It’s ideal if

 

  • you're not currently teaching or training, as there aren’t any requirements for teaching practice, other than the micro-teaching assessments.

or

  • you're already in a teaching role, you can use this for observation and gain feedback on teaching practice, when appropriate.

or

  • you're currently working as an assessor, and want to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching

What will I study?

To achieve the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) you’ll complete 3 units.  Assessment will be in the form of written assignments and micro-teaching sessions, which will become part of your portfolio.

Qualification unit 1

In this unit you will gain a deeper understanding of the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training and the relationship between different professionals in education and training.

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

  • Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment

  • Understand the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training

Qualification unit 2

You’ll learn how to use inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of learners. You’ll develop the skills required to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners. You’ll learn how to plan, deliver, and evaluate inclusive teaching and learning.  You’ll get chance to practise and develop your new found skills by delivering a micro-teaching session.

You need to achieve 6 credits from this group, so you’ll choose 2 topics from: 

  • Understand inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training 

  • Understand ways to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment 

  • Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning 

  • Be able to deliver inclusive teaching and learning 

  • Be able to evaluate the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning 

 

Qualification unit 3

In this unit, you’ll learn how to facilitate learning and development and gain an understanding of assessment methods.

  • Understand types and methods of assessment used in education and training 

  • Understand how to involve Learners and others in the assessment process 

  • Understand the role and use of constructive feedback in the assessment process 

  • Understand requirements for keeping records of assessment in education and training 

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence, which covers all assignment coursework and practical assessment. There are no formal exams. There is also a microteaching session, for which you will have the full support of your tutor

No, assessment is formative, which means, ongoing until the requirements are fully satisfied. There is no limit to the number of times evidence is assessed and no set number of pieces of evidence required.

Are there any time limits for assessment?

Entry requirements

There is a minimum age restriction of 19 years.

 

Otherwise, there are no other formal entry requirements.  

 

However, please note that there is an initial assessment of your skills in Maths, English and ICT – but please don’t be put off by this, and contact us if you are unsure if you meet the entry requirements.

Time Commitment

The quoted total qualification time for the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is 120 hours, with 48 guided learning hours.

You can be qualified in just 5 days, with our virtual classroom option!

Study Options

You can choose from either self-directed study or a virtual classroom.  Both have their benefits, and you choose which is more suited to your circumstances. 

What is self-directed study?

Self-directed study is when you take charge of your learning, you will be supplied with all the necessary resources, and Supportive Solutions will provide advice and direction to help you achieve the qualification. Self-Directed Study is cheaper but takes longer to complete.  

 

What is a virtual classroom?

Supportive Solutions offers a virtual classroom option, which means that you will be able to complete the course in 5 days.  This could be on 5 consecutive Saturdays, or Mon-Friday

Sessions are delivered via live webinar learning and can either be open courses or bespoke to a company, or group of people.

Progression

What support will I receive?

Supportive Solutions will fully support you throughout the course. You will work with your dedicated tutor, who will be your main point of contact throughout the course.  Your tutor will support you in building your portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and competence.

Your tutor will spend time with you to go through the course requirements and outline the steps you will need to take.  You’ll be provided with a workbook, that acts as an additional point of guidance.  Your tutor will chat with you about study skills and provide advice on assessment techniques.

For the self-directed study you can start anytime.
