Acquired Brain Injury

This awareness course for acquired brain injury will help those working with and supporting people living with an ABI to understand how that person experiences and manages the activities of daily living.  The course is a starting point for improving communications with the person and understanding how difficult even the simplest of tasks can become.

Course Learning Outcomes:

•    Outline the function of the brain

•    Describe the structure of a neurona neuron

•    Explain the functional anatomy of the brain

•    Outline the main types of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

•    Explain the effects of ABI

•    Discuss the role of rehabilitation in ABI

•    Explain the key messages of ‘Missed Opportunities’
